Harold J. “The Boss” Greene
December 9, 1929 - December 13, 2019
IN LOVING AND LASTING MEMORY OF HAROLD JAMES GREENE
Harold James Greene, age 90, of Middletown, Delaware departed this life on Friday, December 13, 2019.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on December 9, 1929, he was the youngest son of the late Elmore and Myrtle (Williams) Greene. His three brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Harold was baptized at an early age when a member of Second Macedonia Baptist Church in Philadelphia PA, where his father served as a Deacon until his death. He was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system graduating from Murrell Dobbins Vocational High School where he majored in carpentry.
Harold worked as a residential and commercial painter with a keen eye for detail. He was a talented craftsman who could design and build anything and do any kind of contracting work. Over the years several family members sought Harold to paint and do various contracting projects in their homes/businesses. He was always ready to give advice and his opinion whether about contractor upgrades or fixes, or politics and history.
An avid Philadelphia sports fan, if not working he could always be found watching the Eagles, 76ers or Phillies. Harold also enjoyed watching those vintage western movies. Above all, Harold loved his family and insisted on enlisting his grandsons and nephews as his apprentices, and strictly enforced his high calibrator work ethic and accountability!
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 52 years, Elizabeth (Bowie) Greene; two daughters from his first marriage, Janice Greene Thurman and Sandra Greene Saunders; four grandchildren, Bryant Greene, Anthony Greene, Allen LeGare, Jr. (Tasha) and Sarah White (Kevin); and five great grandchildren, Bria Greene, Leya LeGare, Aleil LeGare, Aiden LeGare and Autumn White, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE 19709, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 am.
Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harold’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, http://act.alz.org/goto/alwaysbestcarephilly

Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day…unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. Sometimes they say things to you through signs, through scents on the air, through songs you hear or through the breeze that flows around you…you feel the love they had for you…God Bless
