Harold W. Hall, age 83, of Newark, DE, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Hall was born in Annandale, NJ, on December 2, 1929, son of the late John W. Hall and Irene Pittinger Hall. He proudly made his career as a member of the US Army and served his country during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from the military as a Sergeant First Class in 1969 after 21 years of brave and honorable service.
A devout Episcopalian, Mr. Hall was a former parishioner of St. George’s Chapel in Harbeson, DE. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge, and the Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years, Betty Jane Campbell Hall; daughters, Cheryl Rodriguez and Deborah Britton; granddaughter, Tina Braden; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Boyer. He is survived by his children, Christopher Hall and wife Marie of Bear, DE, Tina Throckmorton and husband Steve of New Castle, DE, Timothy Hall of Atlantic Beach, NC, Brian Turner of Phoenix City, AL, and Richard Boyer of Destin, FL; sisters, Shirley Hall of Seattle, WA, and Ruth Gattone of New Castle, DE; brother, Nelson Hall of Newark, DE; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where visitation will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Hall may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702 B Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
