I am so saddened to hear of Helene’s passing. I knew her at a very young age (3 or 4) growing up on Robinson Ave. Her smile, positive energy and overall good person was what attracted me to be her friend. She was my first “crush” and even gave her Ms Wren’s flowers as a sign of my affection. I met up with her again in high school and she had that same positive energy I remembered.
My deepest condolences to her family.

My mother went to college with Helene’s mom, Alice, our families were basically like (non-related) cousins growing up. We always looked forward to getting together several times a year with the Dempseys and Lutzs for barbecues. Eight kids all roughly the same age had a lot of fun together, I remember the Dempsey girls as all being super-cute and super-funny. Helene used to always give me these quizzical, bemused looks that would make me laugh, whenever I was acting like a spazzy kid (which I often was). Good times that I remember with great fondness. I’m hoping that Helene is in a serene and happy place now, and that her family thinks of her with love and affection, always. My sincerest condolences to all family.
