Herbert J. Sentner

Herbert J. Sentner, age 96, of Newark, DE passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018.
Born in Driftwood, PA on November 6, 1921, he was a son of the late Andrew and Catherine (Dominick) Sentner. Herb graduated from Emporium High School, served his country as a staff sargeant during World War II, and graduated from Villanova University with a B.S. in Economics. He made his career as a CPA and financial executive for food processing and manufacturing companies including, Wise Potato Chips, Blumenthal Brothers Chocolate and Ward Foods.
In his leisure time Herb enjoyed playing contract bridge at master level, worldwide traveling with his wife and gardening. He loved watching college basketball, especially Villanova and Temple.
In addition to his parents, Herb is preceded in death by his son, Andrew Sentner; siblings, Charles Sentner, Theresa Sentner Doody, Louis Sentner, Mary Sentner, Joseph Sentner, Alyce Sentner Sweeney, and Elouise Sentner Klagholz. Herbert is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances P. (Saskiewicz) Sentner; children, Timothy Sentner (Barbara) and Amy Ammicht; grandchildren, Kevin (Rose), Ryan and Dawn Sentner; and great grandson, Kevin John Sentner.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 until 11 am on Saturday morning, January 27, 2018, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be private in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
