Hilda Beck Perialas, age 94, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020.

Born in Newark, DE on October 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Willard Scotten and Lena (Moss) Beck. Hilda worked as a cook at Peggy’s Truck Stop for 25 years. She was also a talented homemaker and fantastic cook, canning her own vegetables for many years. Devoted to her church, Hilda was a very active member of Salem United Methodist Church since 1952. She loved making her famous potato salad for church suppers and hand-crafted beautiful needlepoint pieces for church bazars. Hilda was devoted to her family and will always be remembered for her wonderful, loving care that she provided to all her family members when they were ill.

In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Perialas, Sr.; and her son, James P. Perialas, Jr. She is survived by her grandchildren, Michael Perialas (Christe McGinnis) and Matthew Perialas (Linda); great grandchildren, Stephen Perialas and Emily Perialas; great great grandchildren, Sarah Reed and Jar’Miah Flowers; and daughter-in-law, Ellen Perialas.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A second visitation will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at the funeral home, where a funeral service will begin at 10 am. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hilda’s memory to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713.

  • Hilda was a very sweet lady. I loved to hear her sing and see her when she came to church. I know she will be greatly missed. She was always very friendly to everyone she met and her potato salad was delicious.
    May she rest in peace. I know she is with her loved ones in heaven.

  • We knew Bea from our times at Salem Methodist Church. Her son Jimmy was in our wedding in1969. She was a wonderful giving woman and so kind to everyone she met.
