Howard G. Creswell

Mr. Howard G. Creswell, known fondly as “Cres,” age 87, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011.
A native Delawarean, Mr. Creswell was born in Wilmington on August 28, 1924, son of the late Howard Elmer Creswell and Ethel Sarah Baldwin Creswell. He proudly served his country during World War II in the US Army’s 116th Anti-Aircraft Group. In civilian life, he made his career with the Chrysler Corporation in Newark, where he worked as an electrician and in maintenance for 36 years.
Mr. Creswell was an avid outdoorsman throughout his life and greatly enjoyed camping and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling and roller skating. Well known for his friendly and sociable manner, he delighted in visiting with family and his many good friends. A devoted family man above all else, he was at his happiest when spending time with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellen F. “Billie” Creswell; son, Howard G. “Jerry” Creswell, Jr. and wife, Stephanie, of Newark, DE; daughter, Jane Creswell of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Cheryl, Brian, and Bradley; and great grandchildren, Deja, Gerald, Cali, and Eliot.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, October 3, 2011, at Elkton United Methodist Church, 219 E. Main Street, Elkton, MD. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Creswell may be made to Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808; or to Elkton United Methodist Church, 219 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921.
