Irene K. Lubina

Irene K. Lubina, age 83, of Bear, DE, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Mrs. Lubina was born on February 24, 1929, daughter of the late Luigi and Celestina (Sordi) Zani. She made her career in banking, working for Manufacturers Hanover Trust on Long Island for 35 years until her retirement in 1979.
Mrs. Lubina was a devout Catholic throughout her life and a parishioner of St. Margaret of Scotland Church in Newark. She was also a Lifetime Member of the Ladies Auxiliary (“Columbiettes”) of Knights of Columbus Council # 6543.
Active in the community, Mrs. Lubina was a member of the Newark Lions Club and the New Century Club, as well as the Newark Senior Center and its WOWS program for widows and widowers. She also worked with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (“RSVP”).
Her beloved husband, John R. Lubina, passed away in 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Celeste Carlin (husband, Scott Wilson) of Centerport, NY, and Linda Cofini (husband, David Block) of East Setauket, NY; brother, Louis Zani of Cranfield, NJ; sister, Rose Zani of Winter Haven, FL; and grandsons, Joseph Phelan and Michael Phelan.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, February 27, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at St. Margaret of Scotland R.C. Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
