Iris Bessie Zebrook
October 7, 1930 - March 3, 2026
Iris Bessie Zebrook, age 95, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Complete Care at Brackenville.
Born in Narrows, Virginia on October 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Annie and Vasper Wright. She lived with her husband in Beckley, West Virginia until they moved to Newark, Delaware where she resided in her home in Pike Creek until the last few months of her life.
Some of the things that she loved to do during her spare time were sewing, crocheting, and playing bridge. She was savvy with home repair and could often be heard telling how she put tar on her house roof! Her daughters would call on her for home repairs and she would offer helpful advice on fixing just about anything. She was frugal with money, but loved shopping for clothing for herself and family. The beach was one of her favorite vacation spots where she enjoyed spending time with family in Rehoboth. Mom will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and her spirited nature.
In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Zebrook; son, Gary Zebrook; grandsons, Brian Zebrook and Stephen Snyder; and sister, Nancy Stapleton. She is survived by her children, Belenda Zebrook, Cindy Guerrazzi (Gene), and Stacy Snyder; along with several grandchildren and great children.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will be held privately.

Aunt Iris and Uncle Joe left Beckley WV in 1957 for Delaware which paid school teachers much better than WV. Gary and Belenda were in grade school and Stacy and Cindy were soon family members. Iris was independent, self reliant, also stood her ground. Will be missed and remembered. RIP

I worked with Iris in food service. She was a terrific employee and very creative. I also lived in Pike Creek so we would cross paths after we no longer worked together. She made me a wreath one Christmas that I still have and think of Iris when I put it up each year. She was a special person always happy and upbeat.

Iris was a special lady. I worked with her at Shue school in the cafeteria. She would make everyone smile. I know she will be missed by so many. My prayers are with her family.
