Isabelle T. Adams

October 23, 1939 - August 27, 2017

Isabelle T. Adams, age 77, of Newark, DE, passed away at home on Sunday, August 27, 2017, after a long battle with multiple myeloma.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Isabelle graduated from St. Maria Goretti High School in Philadelphia. She worked in the accounting departments of USA Training Academy, Brite-Lite and the Box Outlet, until she retired in 2006.

Isabelle always put everyone else’s needs before her own and dedicated her life to taking care of her loved ones. She enjoyed going on cruises and slow dancing with the love of her life Cal, who predeceased her in 2013. She also enjoyed playing the slots, listening to music of all kinds, attending concerts to hear Doo Wop performers and her all-time favorite singer”Bobby Vinton, and discussing current events, especially politics.

For many years, Isabelle was a league bowler and an active volunteer at Holy Angels School and Holy Family Parish.

Isabelle was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Calvert H. Adams, Sr.; her sister, Patricia (John) Pyle and her grandson, Robert E. Norman, Jr. She is survived by her children Cathy (Mark) Kleinschmidt; Calvert Adams, Jr.; and Kelly Stevenson; granddaughters, Krista (Arlan) Madison; Jessica Norman; and Carly Adams; great granddaughters, Hailey and Peyton; brothers, Thomas (Gabriel) McKernan and John (Regina) McKernan; daughter-in-law, Susan Adams; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Isabelle was looking forward to welcoming her new great grandson in November.

Services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, at LLS Donor Services, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202 or to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, c/o Christiana Care, P.O. Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899.

  • It give me great sadness that you are no longer with us in the physical world, but will always be in our hearts where we will carry you everyday. Isabelle was a truly loving person whose family and friends meant everything to her. There was nothing she wouldn’t give of herself to help someone in need.

    We will miss you terribly, but know you are at peace again in the arms of your loving husband. We thank you for making our lives better by having you in them.

    We missed them when they moved.
