J. Marie Brooks

Mrs. J. Marie Lynch Brooks, age 89, formerly of Tarleton in Wilmington, DE, Ft. Myers, FL, and Ocean City, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at her residence at Kentmere.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Brooks was born in Wilmington on April 3, 1922, daughter of the late H. Merrill Lynch and Eleanora Katherine Zolper Lynch. She was a talented homemaker and later served as a bookkeeper with World Presbyterian Missions in Wilmington, where she retired in 1987 after 25 years of service. In earlier years, she had also worked in bookkeeping with Delaware Hospital (now Wilmington Hospital).
A devout Christian, Mrs. Brooks was a charter member of Faith Presbyterian Church. She delighted in spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rowland R. Brooks, Sr., brothers, H. Merrill Lynch, Jr. and William S. Lynch, Sr., and son-in-law, John C. Schwind III. She is survived by her children, Linda B. Schwind of Wilmington, Laura B. Roop and her husband Chip of Wilmington, R. Richard Brooks, Jr. and his wife Terrie of Lancaster, PA, Debra L. Nersasian and her husband Arthur of Wilmington, and Lisa M. Sands and her husband John of Lancaster, PA; grandchildren, Lindsay S. Sanderson and her husband Robert, Jenna S. Vincent and her husband Christopher, Courtney Roop, Jamie Roop, Ashley, Kristen, Lauren, and Sara Brooks, Amanda Sheets and her husband Greg, Keleigh Fimmano and her husband John, Mark Nersasian, and Jordan, Brooke and Jarred Sands; great grandchildren, Gavin, Chase, Aidan, and Avery; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Lynch and Nancy M. Lynch; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 12 noon.
