James A. “Jimmy” Ackinson, age 72, of Bear, DE, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
Born in Wilmington, DE on May 9, 1951, he was a son of the late Herbert Ackinson and Doris (Smith) Barton. Jimmy proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a ride operator at carnivals.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his siblings, Austin “Bucky” Buchanan, Barbara “Barbie” Mooney, Nancy Zellers, Diane Reedy, Harold Engle and Jennifer Sampson. He is survived by his children, Julia Ackinson and Shaun Anderson; sisters, Mary “Pixie” Foust (Harry) and Jeanette Neff (Mark); special niece, Sherry Buchanan; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews.
A committal service will begin at 11 am on Friday, April 5, 2024, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
