James David Boyce “Bulldog”

July 21, 1967 - August 2, 2016

James David Boyce, known fondly as Bulldog, age 49, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.

A native Delawarean, James was born in Wilmington on July 21, 1967 and was the son of James A. and Lillian L. (Thayer) Boyce. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Army National Guard in 2015 after serving as a diesel mechanic.

James was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast and a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed visits to Dover Downs and Delaware Park in his leisure time. A devoted husband, beloved son, brother and grandson, loving father and cherished uncle, James will be very dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra L. (Cooper) Boyce; parents, James and Lillian Boyce of Dover, DE; sons, James P. Boyce of Osan, Korea and Justin D. Boyce of New Castle, DE; maternal grandmother, Lillian E. Taylor of Newark, DE; sister, Victoria L. Boyce Fisher and her husband, Philip of Harrington, DE; and nephews, Jacob P. Fisher and Nicholas A. Fisher.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday morning, August 10, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
