James F. “Jimmy” Bingham, Jr.

James F. Jimmy Bingham, Jr., age 52, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Wilmington, DE on October 10, 1965, he was a son of the late James F. and Frances L. (Hutchinson) Bingham, Sr. Jimmy dedicated his career as a painter with Jamestown Painting & Decorating in Newark.

Jimmy was a hardworking man and dedicated to his family. He had fond love for his trucks. Above all, he was a beloved fiance, father, brother and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Donna King. He is survived by his fiance, Lisa A. Barrett; children, Sarah Cassidy, Kelly Cassidy, Kyle Barrett, Sean Barrett, Ashley Barrett and Douglas Barrett; step-mother, Betty Bingham; brother, Walter Bingham (Barbara); sisters, Gayle Dickinson (Scott), Deborah Pennington (Ki); Theresa Yearwood, Eva Hall (Dave) and Pam Williams (Waymond); grandchildren, Karmella, Kyle, Jr. and Robert, III; and many nieces and nephews.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will be held privately.

  • I’m very sorry for your loss. He was a coworker when I worked for Jamestown. I ran into him the other morning at Royal Farms and I bought him a coffee cuz I haven’t seen him in awhile. He was always a great guy to work with. My deepest condolences goes out to the family.

  • I remember meeting Jimmy out in the tunnel of Newark’s smoking court, skipping school and hanging out in Brookside and my moms garage. He was working on the new dorms last year and we caught up a bit. Sorry for your loss and if you ever want a funny story about some of our escapades let me know.

  • I am so sorry to hear of Jimmy’s passing. He was once my brother in law when he was married to Donna. My son Lyndon told me today and I just couldn’t believe it. He was always a very caring & loving person. Always had a smile. I know how much he loved his children and never got to go visit them out west. Sarah I remember when you were born and how much you favored your father. I’m glad he found love again and am just so sorry he couldn’t enjoy his new life longer. RIP Jimmy.
