James “Jim” Ronald Mills

James “Jim” Ronald Mills, age 81, of Bear, DE, passed away suddenly Sunday, November 3, 2024.

Born in Hagerstown, MD on July 8, 1943, he was the youngest of four children to the late George Roger Mills and Frances Lorraine Hombaker. Jim proudly served in the United States Navy. He made his career as a floor mechanic and owner of Interstate Interiors, retiring in 2006.

Jim, lovingly known as “Pappy”, cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always looked forward to taking them to the Farmer’s Market and the State Fair during the summer. Jim was the designated handyman for his family, friends and neighbors and enjoyed helping them. He loved to cook and everyone was welcome at his table. Jim could always be found shopping at Aldi’s or watching NASCAR. Jim was a fan of College Sports over Pro Sports. Jim will always be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his love of Reba McEntire, and will be incredibly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Madanat Wilson; and wife, Peggy Mills Graham. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Fabuien (Tim); grandchildren, Emily Cook (Tim), James Stone, and Joey Wilson (Brittany); great-grandchildren, Lillian Cook, Emma Wilson, and River Wilson. Even though Jim was not a fan of animals all that much, he leaves behind a cat, Tomura, who adopted him; and many extended family friends.

A committal service will begin at 11 am on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
