Jane Ann Fox Banks

Mrs. Jane Ann Fox Banks, age 87, of Middletown, DE, formerly of New Castle, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Christiana Hospital.
A native Delawarean, Jane was born in New Castle on October 6, 1925, daughter of the late Wilbur W. Fox, Sr. and Jean B. Miller Fox. She was a truly gifted seamstress and designer of wedding gowns for many years, until 1999 when Hurricane Floyd struck and flooded her home with three feet of water. Not yet ready to retire, Jane would go to accept a position as the assistant director of the DeLaWarr Senior Center.
Active in her community throughout her life, Jane was a longtime member of Christ Church in Delaware City, where she served on the vestry in both 2007 and 2008. She was a lifelong Republican and was very proud of her work in helping to elect Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952. She remained a tireless and eloquent advocate on behalf of many Delaware Republican candidates over the years.
Jane is survived by her beloved husband, John W. Banks; children, David W. Roberts of Alabama, John L. Roberts of Wilmington, Michael P. Roberts of Middletown, and Karen Banks Koppel of Delaware City; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; brother, John M. Fox of Rehoboth; and several devoted cousins, including Jeanne Spence Coover.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 23rd, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
