Janet Murray Ivins

Mrs. Janet Murray Ivins, age 85, of Milton, DE, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013.
Janet was born and raised in Newark, DE, and lived both there and in the Glasgow area before moving to a new home in Milton in her later years. A lifelong homemaker, she had also been employed in her aunt’s bakeshop, at several drugstores in Newark, and with the former Chrysler Corporation. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, George W. Murray and Gertrude Fader Murray; her son, Eugene H. Scott; her husband of 46 years, Richard C. Ivins; her sister, Mary G. Murray; and her brother, George W. Murray, Jr. She is survived by her son and caregiver, Richard C. Ivins; grandson, Eugene H. Scott, Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Burris and Margery Kinnikin; nephews, George Murray III and David Murray; niece, Ann Parsons; daughter-in-law, Bernice Scott; eight great nieces and nephews; and twelve great great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, August 5th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, where visitation will begin at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Head of Christiana Cemetery, Nottingham Road, Newark.
