Jean M. Romano

Mrs. Jean M. Romano, age 80, of Bear, DE, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Romano was born in Frederica on March 7, 1931, daughter of the late Sylvester H. Gottorf and Margaret L. Boone Gottorf. She was a talented homemaker throughout her life and had also worked as a waitress for five years at the Moose Lodge in New Castle.
Mrs. Romano greatly enjoyed bowling, gardening, flowers, needlepoint, and all types of crafts. She was a wonderful baker and delighted in surprising family and friends with her homemade cakes, pies, and cookies. Active in Women of the Moose Lodge #1418 for over 50 years, she was awarded the degree of First College of Regents. She was also a parishioner of Holy Spirit Church and a member of the church choir.
Her beloved husband, James D. Romano, passed away in 2002. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Hutchinson III. She is survived by her children, Patricia Sechrist (Steven), Richard Hutchinson, and Chris Romano (Marilyn); stepchildren, James Romano (Mary Ann), Wayne Romano (Dottie), Pete Romano, Barry Romano (Nancy), Sheila Barnette (Greg), and Mary Ellen Romano; 8 grandchildren; 23 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many step great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
