Jeanette C. Sikes

Jeanette C. Sikes, age 61, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully from breast cancer on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at her home.
Jeanette grew up outside of Pittsburgh and went on to Clarion University and later, Florida State University, where she earned her Master of Library Science. She then moved to Delaware, and married Ken Sikes and had 2 children, Ed and Katie, as well as a stepson, William. She worked in corporate libraries for DuPont and QVC, and most recently worked for Oak Knoll Books in Old New Castle.
She was an involved parent who led her daughter’s girl scout troop and cheered anxiously as her son played goal keeper in soccer. Jeanette enjoyed traveling with her husband and spoke fluent French. She was an avid reader, excellent gift giver, was creative and crafty, and could always be counted on to help her grandchildren with a school project.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, William K. Sikes, II; daughter, Katie Orr, and husband, Albert; son, Ed Sikes and wife, Melanie; stepson, William K. Sikes, III, and wife, Simone; and grandchildren, Eirinn, Sophie, Henry, Charlotte, Cyrus, and Isabella.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, August 3, 2012, at St. John the Beloved R.C. Church, 907 Milltown Road, Sherwood Park, Wilmington, where friends may call after 10 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington.
