Jesse E. Coyle - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Jesse E. Coyle

Born: 12/20/1920
Died: 5/26/2012

Mr. Jesse E. Coyle, age 91, of Dover, DE, formerly of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 26, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Mr. Coyle was born in Wilmington on December 20, 1920, son of the late Harry and Ida (Galvin) Coyle. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II and would continue in public service as a firefighter for the City of Wilmington, where he retired after a 20-year career. Following his retirement, he was employed with the former Hercules Corporation for 15 years. (While still in fire service, Mr. Coyle also held a part-time position with Lang Carpet in Wilmington.)
A devout Christian throughout his life, Mr. Coyle was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church and faithfully read his Bible each day. Among his favorite pastimes, he greatly enjoyed walking (and all types of exercise), expertly fixing things around the house, and cheering for the University of Delaware football team. Most of all he delighted in spending time with his beloved family; for the past year-and-a-half, he truly loved living in Dover with his daughter, Diane, and son-in-law, Bill, who were honored to help care for him.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mae Cooper Coyle, in 1995. He is survived by his daughters, Diane Denbrock (Bill) of Dover, Patricia Powis (Phillip) of Newark, and Barbara Kester (Edward) of Mt. Airy, MD; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, June 1, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave. and DuPont Rd., Wilmington.
