Jimmy R. Gibson, age 76, of Newark, DE, passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Born in West Virginia on February 25, 1943, he was the son of the late Lena (Blankenship) Dotson. Jimmy owned J & K Roofing for over 50 years.

A man with many talents, Jimmy loved building things, especially with wood, playing the guitar, gardening, cooking, and baking delicious treats. He was an avid NASCAR fan, always cheering on his favorite driver. Most of all, Jimmy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed every moment spent with his family.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy E. Gibson and his brother, Benny Dotson. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Wanda (Green) Gibson; daughter, Terri Lynn Gibson; brothers, Ken Hurley, Donnie Dotson, and Thomas Dotson; sister, Joann Sims; and grandchildren, Cynthia and Brian Palmer, Edward and Chris Clineff, and Ashley McNally.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jimmy’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
