Joan Elizabeth Rutledge

Joan Elizabeth Rutledge, age 76, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Dover, DE on February 11, 1943, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Betty Jane (Montgomery) Harrington, Sr. Joan worked as a mail processor with MBNA and retired after many years.
She enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking, baking, traveling and most importantly, spending time with her family. Joan was a wonderful mother and grandmother, who was her children’s spiritual leader.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, James Black and Gary Black; and brothers, John Harrington and David Harrington. She is survived by her children, Annette Bowers (James), Dawn Weber (Glenn), and Daniel Black; sister, Patricia Rutledge; brother, Carl Harrington; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 noon, on Thursday, April 4, 2018, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
