Joanne C. Munroe, age 83, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Barrington, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
Joanne was born in Freeburg, PA, on March 15, 1929, daughter of the late Edgar Crouthamel and Gertrude Burmeister Crouthamel. A talented educator, she taught in the New Jersey elementary school system for many years until her retirement.
Joanne enjoyed gardening, Phillies baseball, attending family sporting events, and time spent at the Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge in Medford, NJ. Most of all, she delighted in the company of her beloved family.
She is survived by her son, Ken Munroe of Eminence, MO; daughter, Shirley Lerner and husband, Neal, of Newark, DE; twin brother, John Crouthamel and wife, Gerry of Front Royal, VA; sisters, Elsie Bassett of Bridgewater, MA, and Lois Sweeten of NJ; brother-in-law Herbert Eadline of PA, and grandsons, Kevin Lerner and Bryan Lerner. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Munroe; sisters, Miriam Karsner and Gertrude Eadline; and brother, Edgar Crouthamel.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering with lunch/refreshments at the Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge in Medford, NJ, on Saturday, April 28th, from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
