Mrs. Joanne Lorraine Verbanas Nahodil, age 78, of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013.
Born in Shamokin, PA, on September 3, 1934, Mrs. Nahodil was the daughter of the late Joseph Verbanas and Grace Marquette Verbanas. She was a gifted and resourceful homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her beloved family.
Mrs. Nahodil was a member of the Cherry Hill United Methodist Church in Elkton, MD. She sang in the church choir, was a member of the women’s group, and generously donated her time and talents to many church activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Nahodil, Jr., her brother, Charles Verbanas, and her sister, Mary Bradley. She is survived by her children, John Nahodil III (Sharon), Kathleen Bellere, and Joseph Nahodil (Beverly); brothers, Joseph Verbanas (Mary) and Robert Verbanas (Belinda); sister, Nancy Heiser; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
