Mr. John Edward Perry, 91, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012.
Mr. Perry was born August 8, 1920 in Winchester, VA, son of the late John Perry and Mabel Allamong Perry. A US Army veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was honored with three Bronze Service Stars.
He moved to Delaware after he got out of the service and lived there until he moved to Arizona in 2007.
He was a talented building contractor who built 4 of his own homes. He also loved working in his vegetable garden.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow, sisters, Bessie, Eva, Louise, Mary and Ruth, and his wife, Nadine M. Perry (1992). He is survived by his daughter, Sharon A. Perry (Paul Gibson) of Phoenix, AZ; son, Dennis A. Perry (Kathy) of Austin, TX; daughter, Doris K. Parico (Stephan) of Garnet Valley, PA, sister, Lucille Lake of Lady Lakes, FL, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
