John Joseph Gallagher

April 19, 1951 - August 30, 2021

John Joseph Gallagher, age 70, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 30, 2021.

Born in Chester, PA, he was a son of the late John Joseph and Anna (Kolody) Gallagher, Sr. John graduated from St. James High School in Chester, PA. Continuing his studies in HVAC, he attended Philadelphia Wireless. In the interim, he worked for several HVAC companies. Later he went to work for Chester Upland School District, where he retired as a plant operations manager after many years of dedicated service.

John was an avid sports fan. Of all his passions, his family was most important. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband and best friend to Karen, loving father, an adored pop-pop, and a dear friend to many.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, John Joseph Gallagher, III. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Karen Lynn (Koukounaris) Gallagher; daughters, Heather Ann Gallagher (Wayne Driver), Gayle Burns (John), Meagan Ann Clifford (Steven Hall), and Heather Razzi (Anthony); 7 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

All services will be held privately.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
