John Joseph Harris III

John Joseph Harris III, age 59, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Born in Wilmington, DE on April 7, 1965, he was a son of the late John Joseph Harris, Jr. and Judith (Yeager) Moore. John proudly served in the United States Navy as a Seabee, completing 3 tours of duty in 3 continents. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Local 542.
In his younger years, John enjoyed spending his free time working on cars. He will always be remembered as being a genuine and honest person but most of all, a family man.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Sarah N. Harris. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynne Carol (Barthel) Harris; 6 children, Joseph Masone (Kari), John Harris IV (Alicia), Aimee Bowers (Harley), Emily Felmey, Nicole Quindlen (Steve), and Susann Harris; 13 grandchildren, Milton, Paul, Joey, Dominic, Vincent, Aiden, Alanna, Aurora, Makayla, Jeffrey, Grayson, Charlotte, and Dean; brother, Frank Harris (Shellie); and nieces, Heather Barnard (Bryant), and Erin Slocum (Jonathan).
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. A graveside service will begin at 11 am, following the visitation, in Lawn Croft Cemetery, 1000 W. Ridge Road, Linwood, PA. A reception will be held from 4 pm until 7 pm at Newark Wesleyan Church, 708 West Church Road, Newark, DE.

John and I were really good friends from elementary school to our later years in life,He was a great friend and I will miss him very much.My heart and prayers go out to Lynne and her family.

Losing John was a great loss for us all. He was loved and respected by many. You could always count on John.
He would drop everything to help someone. John and Lynn Was a great team. At times john felt like he had a second Wife? I would come to see him When he was in a care facility. He told the Staff, I was his second wife. Well john your second Loves you too!!!! ❤️ Rest in peace, sweetie.

What can I say about John. He was like a brother to me for many decades. We were inseparable as kids (So was my Mom with Mrs. Harris (Yeager). I have a lot of great memories of John. John was a very smart man and business man. He was just GREAT people. That’s really all I can say. Will miss you John!
