John M. Dillon IV

January 17, 1938 - December 15, 2017

John M. Dillon IV, age 79, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Wilmington on January 17, 1938, he was the son of the late John M. and Jane (Geahr) Dillon III. He made his career as a plumber with Local #26 and retired from the Plumbers/Pipefitters Local 80, after many years of dedicated service.

John’s passion was golf, he spent a lifetime, and many broken clubs, trying to perfect his golf swing. He also enjoyed walking along the Brandywine River, reading about history, especially the Civil War, and camping with his wife and friends, the six-pack. John was a devout Catholic all of his life and was strong in his faith that he will see us all again in heaven.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his son, Douglas Michael Dillon and his sister, Janice Dillon. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gail (Millar) Dillon; children, Diane L. Toto (Remo) of New London, PA, John M. Dillon V (Vivian) of New Castle, Michael P. Dillon of New Castle, and Elizabeth G. Stamper (Donald) of Middletown; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, December 22, 2017, at St. Peter the Apostle, 521 Harmony St, New Castle, DE, where a funeral mass will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately following mass.
