Jose Manuel Vazques Fonseca

January 8, 1934 - July 5, 2022

Jose Manuel Vazques Fonseca, passed away peacefully from this life on the morning of July 5, 2022 after a great decline in health.

Jose was born in Borinquen, Caguas, Puerto Rico on January 8, 1934 to the late Fausta Vazquez Fonseca and Concepcion Vega Fonseca, he was one of ten children.

Jose lived in Middletown, DE. He worked at St. Andrew’s School for almost 50 years until his retirement. Jose loved laughing, joking, and he pulled no punches. He loved living a peacefully, quiet life.

In addition to his parents, Jose was preceded in death by his son, Charles Richards; and brother, Arcadio “Happy” Vasquez. He is survived by his granddaughter, Tonya Davis; 3 great-grandchildren, Billy Watson, Tonyea Fletcher, and Quanzaus Davis; nieces and nephews, Sonia Fonseca (Angel), Maria Fonseca, Asminda Fonseca, Edwardo Fonseca, and Nicole Vasquez; great-nephew, Jaxson Vasquez; and fondly remembered by his friends, Sonny, Daniel, Judy, and Betty.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 7 pm. Interment will be held privately.

  • Jose was a kind man. I road the bus with him to dialysis and we lived in the same neighborhood. I miss his musical voice when he said ” Good morning ” to me when I got on the bus. I saw how much trouble he was having coming down the steps off his porch and how much trouble he was having walking but he tried everyday. May God comfort all of his family during this sad time.
