Joseph Edward “Joe” Tomchick, Sr.

June 2, 1938 - December 14, 2022

Joseph Edward “Joe” Tomchick, Sr., age 84, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.

Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, on June 2, 1938, he was the son of the late Stephen and Victoria (Soltis) Tomchick. Joe was a graduate of Edwardsville High School in Wilkes Barre. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Joe made his career as a line worker at the General Motors Boxwood Road Plant, for over 45 years.

Joe was a member of UAW Local #435 and Ducks Unlimited. He was a devoted Phillies and Eagles fan. Joe enjoyed crabbing and watching his grandson’s scooter competitions.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his son, Joseph E. Tomchick, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Frances L. (Komsisky) Tomchick; children, David M. Tomchick (Kerry) and Pamela Tomchick; grandchildren, Rachel Loomis (Josh), Valerie Pettingill (Drew), Jennifer Tobin (Jonathan), Mikey Tomchick, Gavin Murphy, and Riley Murphy; and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ryan, and William.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 11 am on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately.
