Joseph H. Hill “Hilly”
Born July 2, 1956
Joseph H. Hill, known affectionately to family and friends as Hilly, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2013. He was 57 years old.
Born in Elkton, Maryland on July 2, 1956, Joseph was a son of the late Raymond Hill and Dolores Bello Hill. He made his career as an electrician with Amtrak’s Wilmington division, where he had been employed for over 30 years. Additionally, Joseph maintained a part-time position with Interstate Battery of Newark, where he had worked for the last 15 years.
An avid sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, each season. He loved music of all kinds, and played the guitar for many years. In his leisure time, Joseph liked playing golf at local courses. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, stepfather, brother, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 7 years, Fran A. (Hoffman) Hill; daughter, Jordan Hill of Virginia Beach, VA; stepchildren, Melissa Gilmore-Andrews and husband Mike of Middletown, DE, Pat Gilmore of Newark, DE, and Mike Gilmore of Arlington, VA; brothers, Michael Hill and wife Lisa of Newark, DE and Robert Hill and partner Jim Symonds of Claymont, DE; sister, Lisa Hughes and husband Charles of Wilmington, DE; 3 grandchildren, Haleigh, Ryan, and Kylie; godson, Anthony Joseph Hill; and nephews, Chad and Andrew Hughes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear, DE, where friends may call from 10 am until 11:30 am. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joseph’s memory may be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center c/o Christiana Care, P.O. Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899.

Sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. I will be out of town from 11/29 to 12/2,and can not make the mass,but would like to offer my condolence’s for his family. I worked with Joe when he he was in the loco shop at Amtrak.Great guy, will be missed by all his co workers.

Hill family.. i just happened to be thinking of Joe today and decided to look him up and found he had passed.. Sorry that i wasn’t aware.. He was a very special person in my life; my best friend all thru high school and after. And i always felt like i was part of your family and he was definitley part of mine. He was a great friend and i know i’ll see him again someday..
