Joseph H. "Joe" Jachetti - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Joseph H. “Joe” Jachetti

May 18, 1944 - September 19, 2021

Joseph H. “Joe” Jachetti, age 77, of Claymont, DE, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021.

Born in Trenton, NJ, on May 18, 1944, he was a son of the late Hubert J. and Ruth M. (Drake) Jachetti. Growing up, Joe was a lifeguard for the Wildwood Beach Patrol from 1960-1964. After his high school graduation, he attended University of Tennessee, where he earned his undergraduate degree. Joe went on to obtain his Masters of Business Administration from Neumann College. He worked as a pharmaceutical representative for Merck Sharp & Dohme prior to becoming self employed as an insurance broker and retirement and financial planner, until his retirement in 2019.

Strong in his faith, Joe was a member of Men of Malvern at St. Joseph in the Hills in Malvern, PA. He was also a member of the Holy Rosary Parish, and his second church, Cabela’s.  In his spare time, Joe was an avid fresh water and surf fisherman, making his own lures. He was a fierce competitor in bass fishing tournaments and was a lover of nature. More than anything, he loved visiting his family and palatial estate in Vermont and exclaiming, “I deserve this!”

Joe was full of life and loved engaging everyone in conversation. He had an incredible knack of finding out your whole life story in a matter of minutes. Family was everything to Joe. He loved being in the middle of all the chaos of screaming babies, loud conversations and “the good food.”

Joe was blessed to have had two Camelot’s in his lifetime. One with his first wife, Linda, who passed way too soon of cancer. The other with his beloved wife, Marilyn, with whom he shared a profound love. Joe will always be her “knight to shining armor.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert W. Jachetti; and first wife, Linda Jachetti. Joe is survived by his wife, Marilyn (McBride) Jachetti; children, Robert W. Jachetti (Aly), Catherine R. Jachetti (Emily), Mary E. Lennon (Jason), Anne L. Ashman (Brian), Laura L. Verdi (Joseph), Renee L. Traini (Christopher), and Joseph M. Jachetti (Maria); brother, Gary R. Jachetti (Patricia); aunt, Rose Jachetti; cousin, Cora Jackette; mother in law, Marilyn McBride; sister in laws, Michele Kremer (Jay, BFF), Joanne McBride and Susan Clement (Alex); best friend, fishing buddy, and chef, William Kramer (Bella); 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; feline companions, Nick and Joe; and canine companions, Freedom, Indy, and Chew.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am, on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Holy Rosary Parish, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine per the Governor of Delaware. Interment will follow in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, 10 Old Church Road, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to St. Joseph in the Hills Malvern Retreat House, P.O. Box 315, Malvern, PA 19355, or online by clicking here.
