Joseph Julean “Joe” Cannon

Joseph Julean “Joe” Cannon, age 75, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

Born in Wilmington, DE on December 3, 1946, he was the son of the late Julean and Jean Cannon.

In his younger years, Joe enjoyed to travel. He and his wife, Marie made their residence in Delaware City where they raised their families and made countless friends. Joe was a long-standing member at the Delaware City Recreation Club. He was an avid fisherman and liked being on the water. Joe loved taking the scenic routes when traveling, especially his Route 9 cruises. Of all his interests, spending time with his family is what meant the most. He will be remembered as an individual whose family valued his opinion and knowledge. Joe will be dearly missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 32 years, Marie E. Cannon; and step-daughter, Marla Curlett Temple. He is survived by his loving children, Jeannie Naley, Lisa Mattson, Robert Cannon; step-children, Iris Temple, Robert Temple, and Roy Temple; sisters, Patty Cannon-Boulden, and Karen Cannon-Snavely; and many grandchildren to whom he was a consistent presence in their lives.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 pm until 1 pm on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm.  Interment will follow in New St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, 743 Cox Neck Road, Delaware City, DE.
