Joseph S. Kristekas

Joseph S. Kristekas, age 51, of Bear, DE, formerly of Morton, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2012.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 27, 1960, Joe loved working with his hands throughout his life, whether it involved carpentry, anything mechanical, or doing ceramics at the Cornerstone Senior Center in Bear. He also enjoyed fishing, as well as watching sports and NASCAR racing. He was a friendly, easygoing, helpful optimist despite his many ongoing medical issues and will be missed by all who knew him.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Stanley J. Kristekas, Sr., and his brother, Stanley J. Kristekas, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Helen Kristekas of Bear, DE; son, Bryan Kristekas; sister, Carol Bailey (Ron) of Bear, DE; sister-in-law, Linda Kristekas of Warrington, PA; nieces, Kristin Plummer of Newark, DE, and Michelle Comroe (Bob) of Warrington, PA; nephew, Stanley J. Kristekas III (Donna) of Glenolden, PA; and great nephew, Tyler Comroe.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude for the loving care and compassion provided by the many doctors, nurses, and support staff of Christiana Care Hospital, Arbors at New Castle, and VITAS Hospice Care, in addition to the thoughts and prayers from many friends, and the spiritual support of Sister Theresa and Father Etim, who all cared for Joe on his long and difficult journey.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joe may be made to Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church at the address above.
