Joyce A. (Painter) Parker, age 82, of Hockessin, DE, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

Born in Wilmington, DE on November 20, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Cevil and Edith (Hayman) Parker. Joyce proudly worked as a Post Master for both the Del Mar and Ocean View post offices and retired after 30 years of dedicated service.

She always had a smile on her face and ready for a joke with her wonderful sense of humor. Joyce enjoyed watching movies, playing cards and reading. She loved listening to Frank Sinatra songs. Joyce was a long time member of Holy Family R.C. Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Timothy A. Painter and Christopher W. Painter and brother, Roy S. Parker. Joyce is survived by her children, Anissa Kitts (Barry), Steven M. Painter and Brian M. Painter (Suzanne); grandchildren, Brian Painter, Jr., Justine Olicker (Aaron), Ashley Painter, Casey Painter, Rachel Painter, Kristin Sullivan, Leah Vari and Jaime Vari; and 7 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brackenville Center for their kind and compassionate care.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10 am on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am. Interment will be held privately in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joyce’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
