Juanita Graham Wood

Juanita Graham Wood, age 90, of Hummelstown, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

Born on August 22, 1925 in Maben, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Willie Graham and Zetta Mae Canada.

The oldest of eight children, Juanita was unable to finish her high school education, but read voraciously throughout her life. As an avid reader, the last novel she read was The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. Juanita was a passionate gardener who thoroughly loved flowers. Strong in her faith, she was a devout Christian who always managed to see the good in others, and because she lived her life with a good heart, she usually succeeded.

Juanita will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and a dear friend, who will be dearly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M. W. Shorty Wood, two sons, Richard Wood and Daniel Wood and three siblings, Billy Graham, Louise Harrell and Joanne Holley.

Juanita leaves a legacy of memories to her two daughters, Deborah Wood and Denise Wood; a sister, Patricia Grim (Daniel); three brothers, Jesse Graham, David Bower (Karen) and Donald Bower (Maria), as well as by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Juanita’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE where friends may visit with her family from 10:30 until 11:00 am. Inurnment will follow at Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ogletown Baptist Church, 316 Red Mill Road, Newark, DE 19713 or to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
