Judith E. Johnson, age 71, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2017.

A native Delawarean, Judy was born in Wilmington on June 12, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Wilbur E. and Mary Ellen (Bennett) Curlett. In addition to caring for her loved ones, she worked as a medical records clerk for Planned Parenthood of Delaware, retiring in 2001.

A woman of strong faith, Judy was a lifelong parishioner of St. Paul’s R.C. Church in Delaware City, where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She was a talented homemaker who lived and breathed for her family. Judy loved cooking and canning, and delighted in preparing delicious homemade meals to share. In her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, and camping at the beach. Judy relished spending time sitting on the porch swing with her husband and best friend, Charles. Most of all, Judy was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, who will be lovingly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Johnson, Jr. Judy is survived by her daughters, Terri K. Skorak of North East, MD and Susan G. Swan (John) of Bear; brothers, Lawrence E. Curlett (Susan) of New Castle and Robert B. Curlett (Kathy) of Smyrna; sister-in-law, Doreen Laws of Bear; and grandchildren, Megan, Brian, and Kaitlin.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on Friday morning, November 3, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon which will be offered at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, 209 Washington Street, Delaware City, DE. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Delaware City.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Church, P.O. Box 544, Delaware City, DE 19706.

    I was shocked and deeply saddened to get the message at the office that Judy had passed away.

    Judy was such a lovely lady and such a help at St. Paul’s Church. We would have such nice conversations on Sunday mornings.

    The community of St. Paul’s will miss her and remember her fondly.
