Mr. Judson J. “Goldie” Goldsborough, Sr., age 88, of Elkton, MD, formerly of Port Penn, DE, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012.
Born in Chester, PA, on August 2, 1924, Mr. Goldsborough was the son of the late Irving Goldsborough and Hazel Buderman Goldsborough. With his family he moved to Wilmington in 1930, where he attended Bancroft School. He would go on to serve his country proudly and bravely in the US Navy during World War II from 1942 until his honorable discharge from duty in 1946.
In civilian life, Mr. Goldsborough was employed with the former Electric Hose and Rubber Company for 31 years until he retired after the plant’s closing in 1977. Following his retirement, he moved to Port Penn, where he was a professional waterman for many years doing commercial crabbing and eeling. He also worked for 20 years for his good friend, Bob Wisowaty of Delaware City. In 2011, he left Port Penn to make his home in Elkton, where he made many new friends and memories.
He is survived by his son, Judson J. Goldsborough, Jr. of Bear; daughters, Faith Riley of Bear and Sally Goldsborough of Wilmington; stepdaughters, Nancy Clough and Frances Blades; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, December 20th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 2 pm. Interment will be held privately.
