Mr. Kenneth Lewis Snow, Sr., age 91, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011.
Born in Ramapo, NY, on July 7, 1920, Mr. Snow was the son of the late Sherman T. Snow, Sr. and Myrtle Lewis Snow. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II.
In civilian life, Mr. Snow enjoyed a long and successful career with the Avon Corporation. He was instrumental in opening the Avon plant in Newark in 1952 along with five managers from New York. He retired in 1975.
A gifted athlete and avid sports fan throughout his life, Mr. Snow was one of the founders and coaches of Newark Little League Baseball. He also established his company’s baseball team, the Avon Yankees, for the same league.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion Frances Fitzpatrick Snow. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth L. Snow, Jr. (Joy) of Decatur, IL, and Thomas S. Snow (Maria) of Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 4, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 9 am. Interment will follow in Head of Christiana Cemetery, Nottingham Road, Newark, DE.
