Kenneth R. Crouse

Kenneth R. Crouse, 83, of Newark, DE, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at the Compassionate Care Hospice Unit of Saint Francis Hospital.
Predeceased by his parents (Murl and Alma), Ken is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Ann; daughters Jennie Clark (William) and Joy Hoban (David); grandchildren, Amy Lynn Szymanski, William Kenneth Clark and Julie Ann Clark; son-in-law, Kevin Szymanski (Mary); half-sister, Rebecca Crouse; and nieces and nephews.
Born in Grafton, WV, and raised in Rosemont, WV, Ken graduated from Flemington High School and West Virginia University, and served in the US Navy. After relocating to Newark with his bride, he began a long career in public education, teaching in elementary schools in the New Castle area. Ken also served the community in many other ways, including the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Oriental Lodge #12 and the Boy Scouts. He was also an active member of Newark United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the United Methodist Men.
Ken was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family, particularly storytelling with his grandchildren.
A service celebrating Ken’s life will begin at 1 pm on Friday, November 11, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, 19711, where friends may call starting at noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
