Leona P. Smith
March 15, 1932 - July 13, 2025
Leona P. Smith, age 93, of Hockessin, DE (previously living in Newark 1970-2022) passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
Born in Lynchburg, VA on March 15, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Roy E. Perrow and Lula Lovelean (Farrar) Perry. Leona worked as an assistant manager for F. W. Woolworth in Willingboro, NJ and in Newark, DE, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service. She loved working in her garden, tending to flowers, vegetables, and butterfly bushes that would attract the most beautiful butterflies to her yard. Leona was very proud of her cardinal figurine collection. She also loved listening to bluegrass and country music and family gatherings of any kind. Active in her faith, Leona was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm L. Smith; daughter, Audrey S. Hamm; and brother, Roy M. Perrow. She is survived by her children, Marilyn S. Corsi (Phillip), Kathleen S. Young (Henry II), and Sharon K. Smith; half-siblings, Dianna Williamson, C.D. Perry, Jr., and Kenneth Perry (Mary); sister-in-law, Betty Perrow; former sister-in-law, Lil Perrow; grandchildren, Jeremy J. Rash and Jessica Henry (Jade); great-grandchildren, Destiney, Tielor, Trevor, Nolan, Mollie, Derek, and Phoebe; and great-great-grandchildren, Aria, and Gianna and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
