Leroy Sayers, Jr.

August 16, 1925 - February 7, 2018

Leroy Sayers, Jr., age 92, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.

Born in Wilmington, DE on August 16, 1925, he was a son of the late Leroy and Margaret (Glick) Sayers, Sr.  Leroy served in the US Navy during WW2 on the USS Hilo in the Pacific.  After his dedicated service, he spent his career as an electronic service tech and service manager with Rawlins & Kinkade in Wilmington.

Passionate about his work, Leroy enjoyed repairing, working on and playing with computers in his spare time.  He loved his family and the beach.  Leroy’s hobbies included dancing, bowling and dining out.  Above all, he was a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Olive Mae (Buckingham); son, Glenn Sayers; brother, Paul Sayers; sister Jane Sayers; and grandson, Matthew.  He is survived by his children, Olivia Nickle (Spurgeon) of Newark, Sandy Farrow (Jim) of New Castle and Jeffery Sayers (Karen Bacot) of Newark; sister, Marie Wortz of Texas; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 pm until 1 pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm.  Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
