Leslie Edward “Ed” Singleton

August 6, 1938 - December 12, 2021

Leslie Edward “Ed” Singleton, age 83, of Newark, DE, died after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, on Sunday, December 12, 2021.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on August 6, 1938, he was a son of the late Leslie H. and Marjorie “Peg” (Hutchinson) Singleton. Ed proudly served in the United States Army Reserve. He worked as an inspection/contracts specialist for Delaware City Refining Co. for 42 years, until his retirement. Ed was a member of the Masonic Order for over 50 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing tennis, reading, going to the beach, and spending time with his beloved family.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Rosemary R. (Dougherty) Singleton; children, Brian Singleton (Dawn) of Bear, Penny Miller (Allan) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Deann Stigliano (Richard) of West Chester, PA, and Jason Singleton (Gina) of Williamstown, NJ; step-children, Michelle Jones (Keith) of Newark and Robert L. Baker of Newark; and seven grandchildren, Bradley, Daniel, Andrew, Tim, Michael, Nicolas, and Ayden.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Face coverings will be required for all those in attendance not immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ed’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Donation Processing, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

  • So sorry to hear this. The family is in my thoughts and prayers. Ed will be missed. I remember the time he took me, Michelle, Bobby and Jason to the beach for a few days at his camper. He was a great guy!
