Linda A. (Younker) Wilkes

Linda A. (Younker) Wilkes, age 63, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

A native Delawarean, Linda was born in Wilmington on May 29, 1953, and was a daughter of Dan C.Younker and Dorothy A. (Latchum) Potter. She worked as a manager for Rite Aid and later as a deli manger for Food Lion.

Linda enjoyed visiting Delaware Park, taking road trips and playing cards with family and friends. She adored animals, especially her family pets. An excellent cook, Linda delighted in preparing delicious home cooked meals. She was known for her quick sense of humor and was always ready to share a good joke. Linda was happiest in the company of her loved ones and will be very dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dan and grandson, Christopher. Linda is survived by her husband, Dennis Wilkes; mother, Dorothy A. Potter of Perryville, MD; children, Lynda M. Laird and Charles T. Forbes, Jr. (Kelly) all of New Castle; brothers, John R. Younker, Billy Potter and Stanley Potter all of New Castle; sister, Deborah Potter of New Castle; grandchildren, Lyndia, Michael, Jeanna, Mark, Michael, Miranda, Melinda, Bonnie, Marina and Charlene; and great grandchildren, Nicholas, Christian, Zackary, Michael, Alayah and Mason.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Monday evening, August 1, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Services and interment will be private.
