Linda “Lulu” Tinch
August 6, 1949 - August 17, 2024
Linda “Lulu” Tinch, age 75, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully at her sister’s home on August 17, 2024, surrounded by her devoted sister and family. She previously lived in Cookeville, TN with her husband, Greg.
Born in Wilmington, DE on August 6, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Beatrice Magagna (Pete) and Roland Mitchell.
Even though Linda had no biological children she was a doting aunt and cherished her life long bond with her niece and nephew, Laura and Aaron. Lulu also had a loving relationship with her great nieces, including special conversations and singing songs with her Maddie, and Marissa providing endless loving care in the months leading up to her passing. Her elaborate tea parties will be a lasting memory with her great nieces. Lulu enjoyed the time spent with her stepdaughter, Denise, after Greg’s passing, especially helping with her shakes and bringing special treats. Building a relationship with her great-grand niece, Aliyah brought her great joy in her final months.
Linda graduated from Thomas McKean High school in 1967. She worked for DuPont until moving to Tennessee. Linda retired from Cummins Filtration as a customer service manager after working for them in Reno, NV and Cookeville, TN. After retirement, she enjoyed vacations at Fort Walton Beach with her husband, sister’s week collecting sharks teeth and sitting on the beach at Englewood Beach, antiquing, yard sales, finding a treasure at Goodwill, doing word finds, reading a good book and making one of her mother’s favorite recipes. Spending time with family and friends brought Linda great joy and happiness. She was loved by her family and friends, both near and far, and will be greatly missed.
When visiting her home state of Delaware, she was always excited to get a good italian sub, Tastykakes and some crabs. Linda loved her sweet treats and was always looking for a “little nibble” until her final days.
To know Linda was to love her. Her laugh was infectious and when she loved you, she made sure you knew it. She would never lose a chance to let you know how much you meant to her and loved giving unique, meaningful gifts or writing long personalized notes and letters. Linda was the ultimate secret keeper and loved to hear all of the gossip.
Due to being a multiple cancer survivor starting at a young age she tried to live every moment to the fullest. She cherished the little things in life and each year she celebrated making it to another birthday.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband Greg, who she dedicated her life to caring for until his death in December 2023. Linda leaves behind her loving and devoted sister, Terry Bianca and husband, Bruce; stepdaughter, Denise Knowles (Marion) and her children, Krista Dwyer (Kevin), and Brandi Robbins; stepsister, Susan Fols; stepbrother, Barry Magagna (Jackie) and son, Jason; sister-in-law, Yvonne Jackson; niece, Laura Lee Liebal (who Linda thought should have been named Belinda Lee) and her children, Stefon, Marissa and Madison; nephew, Aaron Bianca and his daughter, Arianna; great nieces, Aliyah and Milani; and special friend, Sherry Jones.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Linda’s nurse, Kelsey from Delaware Hospice, for her exceptional care.
Lulu was a light that we will never forget. May her memory be cherished in every sunrise and sunset. Our time with her is a treasured gift, and we wish there could have been more. As Lulu would have wanted, we will remember her sitting in the sun, listening to the waves crash, and smiling at the beach.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Linda’s obituary wording is a beautiful reflection on a life well lived. Linda also influenced many during her time working with Cummins engine company, Fleetguard division. She brought a high level of professionalism to every role she served. She was known as tough survivor through cancer, but also a fair and kind leader while also showing herself to be an astute business person. She single-handedly started up a customer support center in the western US and Canada, and served in a variety of roles during her tenure at the company. She personally touched my life by introducing me to Guideposts magazines and also with a beautiful handwritten poem she gave me when my father passed away. I still have that today. Linda lived her life in such a way that many others were blessed. We pray today for those who loved her and that the kindnesses she shared will continue to bear fruit .
