Lois L. McCoury

Mrs. Lois L. McCoury, age 75, of Milford, DE, formerly of Bear, DE, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. McCoury was born in Altoona, PA, on January 23, 1936, daughter of the late Clarence Stoy and Florence Holland Stoy. With her husband, Kenneth, she owned and operated the former Ken’s Auto Sales in Bear for 34 years until her retirement in 1988.
A devout Christian, Mrs. McCoury was a longtime member of Fairwinds Baptist Church, where she taught the third grade Sunday School class and was active in the Silver Saints group. She was a great fan of NASCAR racing and especially enjoyed cheering for her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 1987, son, Richard E. McCoury, in 2003, daughter, Roberta L. Fonto, in 2005, and by siblings, Clarence Stoy, Jr., Winnie Harris, Betty Ickes, and Helen Esposti. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Ann Golt and her husband, Lloyd, of Milford, DE; brother, John Stoy of Altoona, PA; sister, Anna May Halerz of Altoona, PA; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 14, 2011, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. McCoury may be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
