Lorraine Ann Tharp

Lorraine Ann Tharp, age 75, of Delaware City, DE, formerly of Middletown, passed away on December 15, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Tharp was a native Delawarean, born in Wilmington on August 9, 1937, daughter of the late Harry R. Lewis, Sr. and Syvilla Hoffman Lewis. A talented homemaker and strong, independent woman, she devoted her life to giving unconditional love to her family. She cherished life’s simple pleasures: spending time with her family and friends, playing bingo, trying her luck at local casinos, cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies, and caring for her pet dog, Sugar.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tharp was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. “Sonny” Tharp, Sr., daughter, Syvilla, brother, Bobby, sister, Bernice, brother-in-law, Kenny, granddaughter, Ashley, and great grandson, Jacob. She is survived by her children, Harry L. Tharp, Jr. of Middletown, Linda S. Rhodes of Townsend, Robert L. Tharp of Hartly, Helen A. Watson-Pepper of Smyrna, Dawn M. Tharp Bryant of Delaware City with whom she lived, and Danielle Tharp Strouse of Camden; siblings, Harry Lewis II of Townsend, Diane Nobayashi of Middletown, and Lana Brookens of Dover; six grandchildren; three great granddaughters; and a step granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 20th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
