Lorraine M. Petitt, age 83, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on October 30, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Albert A. and Hattie (Dzielak) Williams.

Lorraine has joined her husband, George, and her siblings for another hoorah.  She loved her vacation home at Pot Nets for 30 years with so many fond memories including, crabbing, eating crabs, fishing, and enjoying the sun on her pontoon boat.  Lorraine’s social life was very important from a young age.  She loved to dance for hours, go to parties, play cards and just socialize.  In later years, the Sellers Senior Center and all her friends were a very important part of her social life and retirement.  Lorraine retired from the Red Clay School district.

In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Petitt; daughter, Lorraine E. Papillo; siblings, Donald Williams, Richard Williams, and Patricia Bourdon; and granddaughter, Tiffany Vandever. She is survived by her children, Sharon L. Whittaker (William) and William B. Vandever; sister, Judy Williams-Solge; grandchildren, Douglas Adkins, Stephanie Adkins, Damien Papillo, Sara Papillo, Albert Vandever, Kaitlyn Layman, and Andrew Brainard; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends .will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
