Louis G. Perna

Louis G. Perna, age 90, of Ocean View, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
Born in Wilmington, DE on December 31, 1931, he was a son of the late Joseph and Santina (Masci) Perna. Lou was the owner and former president of Berry Refrigeration Co. with his two sons, retiring at the young age of 60. He spent the last 30 years as an avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed boating, fishing and golfing with his wife, Dee. Lou was also a licensed boat captain and operated a charter fishing business for several years. He loved sharing his passion for the sport with friends and family. A snow bird, Lou spent his winter months at his second home in Naples, Florida. He was a member of St. John’s Lodge No. 2 A.F. & A.M. Above all, Lou cherished time spent with his family, especially with his granddaughter, Chelsea.
In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores (Steele) Perna; and siblings, Jeanette Pate, Joe Perna, and Rita Poole. He is survived by his children, Louis M. Perna (Susan) and Paul J. Perna (Carla), both of Middletown; granddaughter, Chelsea E. Perna; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Perna and Phyllis Thompson; brother-in-law, Paul Steele; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 pm on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be held privately.
