Mamie I. Estep - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Mamie I. Estep

Born: 4/26/1920
Died: 2/1/2013

On February 1, 2013, Mamie I. Parks Estep, age 92, of New Castle, DE, departed this life peacefully to join her family circle in Heaven. Among those who will greet her are her parents, Foster and Marie Ellen Parks; her beloved husband of 72 years, Pastor Edmond Paul Estep; two sons, Billy and Jimmie; and grandson, Jimmie Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Douglas and wife Patty and Thomas and wife Lisa; her daughter, MaryLou; her daughter-in-law, Barbara; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; two great great grandsons; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. We are pleased for Mamie’s newfound joy, but saddened by our loss.
Mamie was a pint-sized lady with a gigantic heart; with her infectious smile, she spread joy to everyone she met. Always at her happiest when caring for others, she greatly enjoyed her job in the Tower Hill School cafeteria, where she worked for over 20 years until her retirement. A gracious lady born and raised in Virginia, Mamie loved sharing hospitality and good southern cooking with family, friends, strangers, and, most especially, with anyone in need. She loved strawberry picking time–and giving away most of what she had gathered! She had a childlike awe for all of God’s creations, from flowers to kittens to mountains to new babies. Mamie radiated love wherever she went.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, February 7th, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 8:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
