Marie E. Hama
October 4, 1941 - February 10, 2024
Marie E. Hama, age 82, of Wilmington, DE, and formerly of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
Born in Mahanoy City, PA on October 4, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Marie (Mokelar) Reese. Marie worked in order fulfillment at Avon for many years.
In her leisure time, Marie enjoyed shopping and visiting craft shows with her children. She was proud of her Irish heritage and loved reciting Irish ditties. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Hama; and siblings, Anna Paulaconis, May Wisler, Catherine Kane, George Reese, and John Reese. She is survived by her son, Philip Hama (Sue); daughters, Sharlene “Shari” Cannon and Karen Hama (Henry Leach); sister, Helen Marstellar; grandchildren, William Cannon (Christine), Kyle Cannon (Amy Casalvera) and Rachael Hama; great-granddaughters, Brianna and Bentley; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am, following the visitation, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

Marie Hama stole my heart. ❤️ I had the pleasure of working with her as a caregiver for over 3 years. Maria was my loving client. Would tell me so many Irish ditties and gave me excellent advice when my husband was ill . Loved her and her family. She is Truly missed.

Aunt Marie was a bright light in our family! We always enjoyed her Irish wit and sense of humor. I have many fond memories of visiting her as a child. She told us her nickname in school we Reese’s buttercup. We will miss her but are happy she is out of pain and at peace.
